MENOPAUSE
Supporting female leaders thrive at work during the menopause
Increase retention, resilience and performance
This is an opportunity for your organisation, as women make up 47% of the UK workforce (Kopenhager and Guidozzi 2015). Our specialist menopause coaching service helps women at all levels cope head-on with the challenges of midlife.
Ground breaking research from our lead expert shows that our coaching approach improves performance, increases wellbeing, and can ignite women’s resilience, confidence and ability to achieve their potential.
We work with an evidence-based coaching programme transforming lives and careers of women working through the menopause helping them to stay at the top of their game. Many have also reported that coaching reduced the burden of menopausal symptoms.
Why does my organisation need a specialist menopause coaching service?
Inevitable transition for women
73% of women experience symptoms related to menopause such as anxiety, depression, memory loss, panic attacks, loss of confidence, reduced concentration, hot flushes and muscle and joint problems (CIPD 2023)
Serious Ramifications
Menopause can lead to burnout and exhaustion (Converso et al 2019)
Substantial Impact
In the UK alone there are around 4.3 million women aged 50+ in employment (Office for National Statistics 2015). Over 50% of women going through menopause consider leaving the labour force (Hardy et al 2018)
You probably haven’t noticed women’s performance dipping,
possibly because women work harder to compensate (Hardy et al 2018), but these symptoms have a devastating effect on their quality of life (Baral and Kaphle 2023).
To retain experienced staff
Employee turnover costs organisations billions of dollars a year (O’Connell and Kung 2007). It is cheaper to retain an experienced staff member than to hire another one.
Empower women to thrive and achieve full potential
Increase women’s ‘psychological capital’ associated with higher performance and more positive attitudes to engagement with work (Avey et al 2011).
How can coaching help?
Coaching is a proven, evidence-based workplace intervention that helps people to:
Unlock their potential, enable them to achieve goals and improve their work performance
Build their self-belief, self-esteem and confidence, which in turn boosts performance
Increase their self-awareness, in body and mind, to enable better understanding, more choiceful responses to challenges and greater emotional intelligence
Grow their autonomy and personal responsibility for their work and their goals
Enhance their mental health, wellbeing, quality of life and life satisfaction
Reduce stress, anxiety, sickness absence, burnout and psychological distress.
Specifically, research undertaken by our leading menopause coaching expert has found that specialist menopause coaching can have a statistically significant effect on:
Increasing wellbeing
Increasing goal attainment – it has a huge effect on this
Reducing the perceived impact of menopause symptoms.
Growing women’s ‘psychological capital’ – a mix of resilience, optimism, confidence and the motivation and ability to seize on life goals and find ways of achieving them. High levels of psychological capital are associated with higher performance and more positive attitudes to engagement with work (Avey et al 2011).
Effect of coaching on participants’ psychological capital, compared with controls
Supporting menopausal women well at work can:
Improve employee retention
Decrease sickness absence
Increase productivity, performance and commitment and buy-in of staff
Promote equality, diversity and inclusion at work
Enhance your organisation’s reputation and attract the best talent
Improve the environment for everyone – what’s good for menopausal women is good for everyone e.g. flexible working, supportive team working, promoting autonomy and self-management.
Our Unique Approach
4-6 sessions of bespoke and personalised coaching, based on what matters to you and your organisation. Each session lasts 60-90 minutes and takes place online at a time convenient to each individual coachee
A tailored diagnostic or personal profile (E.g. strengths-based inventory, an analysis of communication styles or a positive psychology assessment.)
A goal setting process, which we suggest includes a 3-way meeting at the beginning and end of the programme with the person’s line manager, though this might not always be appropriate. We know we get the best results when the approach is personalised to the individual, and when we trust people to be the best judge of which conversations will be helpful to them.
